Iona

A modular mobile coffee bar in 5 mm aluminium. A 140 × 70 cm main module and 70 × 70 cm companion units connect to form configurations for espresso, brewing and events.

Coffee, in a different configuration.

A coffee station is shaped by a sequence of tasks. Equipment, preparation, service and movement all ask something of the work surface. Iona approaches this compact workplace as a system: a main module and smaller companion units that can be brought together as the setting requires.

A family of parts

The main module measures 140 by 70 centimetres, with companion units of 70 by 70 centimetres. These related dimensions provide a clear basis for different arrangements, from a compact setup to a longer service counter.

Each unit is developed around a particular role. Equipment-specific surfaces and concealed services allow the working requirements to inform the structure of the object.

Folded, open and mobile

Five-millimetre aluminium is the principal material. Folded panels establish the construction language, alongside translucent elements and a combination of solid and perforated surfaces.

Mobile bases make relocation part of the design brief. The bar is considered as something assembled for use, moved and arranged again, with a recognisable family of parts across each configuration.
